The former U.S. Army sergeant who masterminded the slaughter at the embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania? Ali Mohamed. The murderer of Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh? Mohammed Bouyeri. The notorious Sydney gang rapist? Mohammed Skaf. The Washington sniper? John Allen Muhammed. If I were a Muslim, I would be deeply offended that the prophet’s name is the preferred appellation of so many killers and suicide bombers on every corner of the earth.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

L’affaire divise et inqui\u00e8te. Selon un sondage CSA paru vendredi dans La Croix, 54% des Fran\u00e7ais estiment que les m\u00e9dias ont eu tort de publier les caricatures de Mahomet, la d\u00e9sapprobation \u00e9tant plus forte (59%) chez les femmes.<\/p>\n

Les sans-religion se disent largement favorables \u00e0 cette publication (58%) et les musulmans oppos\u00e9s massivement (88%).<\/p>\n

Cette affaire provoque une inqui\u00e9tude au sujet d’une \u00e9ventuelle \u00ab\u00a0mont\u00e9e des violences\u00a0\u00bb pour 78% des Fran\u00e7ais (94% pour les musulmans).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

La vraie question est: faut-il interdire<\/i> les caricatures ? Les publier ou non, les trouver outrageantes ou non, tout cela est d’ordre moral, personnel, voire \u00e9conomique (peur de baisser les ventes, ou les augmenter au contaire), mais la question de la libert\u00e9 d’expression est d’ordre public, politique, l\u00e9gal.
